Shirley and family,
I'm so sorry to hear about Nick's passing. He was such a wonderful person and I always enjoyed our visits with him and you.
He had a delightful sense of humor and was a very kind person.
I remember stories that my mom told me about her working at Fern's Bakery, and baby sitting Nick when he was little. She use to say how much he loved the trains that ran behind the bakery, and how he always wanted to run out to see them when they passed by.
I'm sure he is joining my mom and dad, and his mom and dad in heaven and having a family reunion.
I'm going to miss my cousin Nick.
We love you, and you are in our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time.

Nick was and is the most influential person in my professional career. He is who I strive to be in a leader and friend. I consider myself privileged to have worked with him and to call him my friend. It is difficult to decide which I will miss more, his friendship or mentoring. I will miss him dearly.

I met Nick in the early 1980's while he worked for G&W on the first G-IIB Aircraft. Nick was one of those men that no one could say anything less than complimentary about. His two sons, Dan and Nick with whom I also had the pleasure of working embody the same qualities that Nick Sr. did. He is leaving us a very proud man. As all others who knew Nick, I will miss him.

To know Mr. Fern, you need not look any further than his namesake:
Neighborly – Intelligent – Caring - Kind
Funny - Energetic – Resilient - Noble
This is how I always knew him…this is how I will always remember him. Our heartfelt condolences to the entire Fern family.

I had the honor of working along side Nick at TEB in the mid 70's. There where 3 GII's in Atlantics hangar and all the Chief Mechanics had graduated from Lyndhurst High. Nick in 54, Hank Hudak in 60, and myself in 64. Nick was a very unassuming person who demonstrated the finest qualities of an aviation professional. The example he set for us all will live on in his sons, something I know he took great pride in. I was very fortunate to have had the benefit of his advice, council and friendship.
Our prayers will be with Shirley and the family.
