Peter Psirogianes August 19th, 1939 - October 8th, 2018 On Monday, October 8th, 2018 Peter Psirogianes, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away at the age of 79. Peter was born on August 19th, 1939 in Athens, Greece to parents William Psirogianes and Georgia Mentis. Peter was raised in Athens and moved to New York City at the age of seven, but always remembered where he came from. He served as a sharp shooter in the Army National Guard in his twenties. He also worked as a long time employee of Ford Motor Company and Cablevision before finishing his career at Communication Construction Group. In 1963 he married the love of his life Gail Smyth. Together they had their daughter, Tracey, and their son, Jason. Peter had a passion for sports. He loved the Yankees and the NY Giants, but his favorite games to watch were his grandchildren’s. He loved the beach, some good fishing, and a great country music concert. Peter was best known for his compassionate nature, his unwavering loyalty, and his relentless determination. He was a fighter, a hero, and a glass half full kind of guy. Peter believed that a little hard work could take you a long way. Regardless of what Peter was personally going through he never once voiced a single complaint, but rather redirected his focus onto those around him. He was constantly encouraging and supportive, and never judgemental. Peter truly touched the lives of anyone who was lucky enough to meet him. In the words of Babe Ruth, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” Peter never gave up. He fought hard and loved even harder, and will always serve as his family’s ultimate role model. Peter is preceded in death by his father, William and his mother, Georgia Mentis. He will always be remembered by his wife Gail, his daughter Tracey, his son Jason and wife Kathy, and his grandchildren Ashley, Taylor, Chloe, J.T., and Peter. He will forever be loved and missed by all.
