Obituary of Cecil Glassman

Cecil Frank Glassman, 83, of Wellesley, MA, formerly of Oakland, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 30.
Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Carmela “Millie” Glassman, his children Christine Kehoe (Gerald), and Karen Reukauf (Brian Quiggle), his grandchildren Steven Kehoe (Yana Cheng), Michael Kehoe (Emily Russell), Jennifer Reukauf, Lauren Roberts (Kevin), Amy Reukauf, and Mark Kehoe, and his great grandchildren Sarah Kehoe, Hannah Kehoe and Eleanor Roberts. He is also survived by his siblings: Armand Glassman (Alberta), Sharon Zucker (Moshe), Carl Glassman (Dini), and Ron Glassman (Meryl).
Cecil was born in Paterson, NJ to Rosa Ackerman and Paul Glassman on October 29, 1940. He attended Paterson Central High and graduated in 1958. He went on to earn an electrical engineering degree from Rutgers University and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic University. He retired as an engineering program manager from Lockheed Martin in 2000.
His retirement did not last long. He started a second career as a tax preparer and advisor, and through the past 23 years helped many in the community navigate the tax system as a master tax advisor and an enrolled agent at H & R Block.
Cecil’s service to the community continued through his work at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, where he served on numerous committees during his 38 years as a parishioner. During his lifetime, Cecil was a bereavement counselor and a Eucharist minister volunteer coordinator for 20 years at Valley Hospital. He and Millie helped to lead many Worldwide Marriage Encounter meetings and retreats. He also served as a Grand Knight and active member in the Oakland Knights of Columbus #5846. He was a beloved member of the Oakland Senior Club. Cecil will always be remembered for his sense of humor and dedication to his family.
Visitation will be held at Oakland Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, August 5 from 4-7 pm, with an Evening Prayer Service & Eulogy at 6:30 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Oakland, NJ on Tuesday, August 6 at 10 am. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.
