Obituary of Gregory John King
Please share a memory of Gregory to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gregory John King, fondly known as Greg, (85) of Wanaque, N.J. lost his battle with dementia on Saturday, September 23, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Greg was born to Howard and Ruth King on November 18, 1937, in New York, N.Y. He grew up in Bronx, NY with his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and many special aunts, uncles and cousins. Greg served in the Army from 1960-1966 and then began a forty-five year career at Consolidated Edison in New York. Greg met his wife Carol in 1962 and they married in January 1964. Greg and Carol started their family and settled in Oakland, N.J. where they lived for forty-nine years. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol, his daughters Elaine Young (Jamie) and Sandy Grippo (Anthony), his grandchildren Bridget, Nicholas, Connor, Erin, Maxwell and Marina; and his siblings Joe King and Judy King.
Greg was a kind-hearted man who always had a smile on his face. He loved to fish, go to the beach, volunteer at his church, watch his grandchildren play sports, and most of all, spend time with his friends and family. He especially loved his grandchildren and forever loved teasing all of his family and friends to keep a smile on their faces. We are comforted in knowing that Greg is reunited with his parents and his siblings Howie King, Kenny King and Blanche Rogers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to one of the following organizations in Greg’s name:
