One of my favorite teachers at FAMS and I have told my own children stories about my experiences with him. May he rest in peace.

I just learned of Mr Bednarek's death this evening. His middle school math instruction laid the groundwork for my later success in calculus and linear algebra, teaching me analytical thinking, which has vastly assisted me in my career as a family practice physician. But....I shall most fondly remember him as getting me out of a "grounding" by my parents... I was statistician for the girls' basketball team, and was grounded by my parents for persistantly calling my brother "Bo" instead of Ken, and Mr Bednarek sent my parents a note, claiming my essential presence at both the practices and games, which released me from my "grounding"....my parents and I have often recounted this memory with laughter....his was a life well-lived, and positively influenced so many....

My Math teacher and Basketball coach! Always supported his students and players, and stood behind us when we may have stepped out of line! A strong, tough, but gentle giant! I owe all my math skills to him!
The later years when i would see him in town he would always have time to chat, and catch up on our memories and life! He especially loved talking about Jen and her Basketball career!
He will be missed by all!

Frank was an icon at FAMS. He was known you our parents and the Sellner family as our Dad was a long serving member of the BOE in town. All four of us had him for math and he was also my homeroom teacher. I always appreciated his style and even his sarcasm was done with kindness and good fun. He lived Bball and ran the scoreboard for the boys team when stepped down from coaching the girls team. It was nice to have him there when it came time for you to check into the game. I always remember the pipe and that he walked to school since it was nearby. He was truly one of the great teachers in the FL schools and put forth the effort each day to educate his students. I am fortunate to have had him as a teacher and in the school during my three years there. My sincere condolences to the family. So sorry for your loss. God bleed Frank and your entire family. Richard Sellner, Calds of 1973.

I only had Mr. Bednarek for 7th grade homeroom (FAMS Class of ‘90), not math. Still, I remember some of his lessons to this day, e.g. “A guy applied for a prestigious job. For the final interview, the bosses took him out for dinner. But he ruined his chances when he ordered steak and seasoned it with salt and pepper before tasting it. You can’t trust a man who makes decisions without first evaluating the situation.” May this outstanding teacher’s memory be eternal. Condolences to his family.

I have fond memories of him as my teacher. He also had a great sense of humor and would tease me occasionally during school which was a riot. When in other classes I would see him making a funny face at me in the window of the classroom door. Somehow I was the only one who saw him so he always got away with it. Glad to hear he lived a full life with his family. May he RIP.
