I have many memories of my Uncle Tom over my life time. When he got into a project or hobby he jumped in with both feet. I remember the major train set that took up half the basement, to his gardening, where I learned the term "road apples" to his splitting cords of firewood for the winter. I also recall spending many weekends in my teenage years up at the house on Lake Wallenpaupack. When he was just building it himself. I remember helping mix the mortar for the stone work for the foundation and the chimney as well as having to supply him with the rocks and the PBR's (Papst Blue Ribbon tall boy) beers on the scaffolding. (Not sure how everything came out level.) Mostly I remember him teaching me the first rule of learning to water ski, close your mouth and let go of the ski rope if you fall. It was great advice. So many more memories. He will truly be missed but I know Aunt Alice and him are together again.
