Obituary of Lawrence H Skott
Please share a memory of Lawrence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lawrence Skott, 69, of Wyckoff, New Jersey, passed away after a battle with liver cancer on April 3rd with his family by his side. Larry is survived by his wife Monica of 43 years, his two sons, Ryan and Erik, and granddaughter, Devyn. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather.
Larry graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, and remained a loyal alum, who liked talking about Ohio State and the great Buckeye teams.
He loved his work as an architect and wanted to work forever. Above all, he was a caring father, who was always there for his sons, from their time playing traveling soccer, to when they went off to college, and still later when they pursued their careers with a passion inspired by his own.
He met his wife, Monica, while working at Pepsico in Purchase, NY. They were married on the 30th of July, 1977 and moved to Los Angeles, CA to follow his dream of being an architect in L.A.
Two years later, they moved back to New York to be closer to family, and Larry began a 43-year working relationship as an architect with Barry Poskanzer. Subsequently, he became a partner and played an immeasurable role in building the firm of Poskanzer Skott Architects.
Larry was a man with many loves and personal loyalties. He loved playing golf with friends; loved driving to Hilton Head, SC for family vacations; and loved traveling with his wife to exotic spots across the globe, including the Azores, Moscow, Lisbon, Rome, Sicily, Barcelona, Paris, Athens, and Jamaica.
Interment will be private. To honor his memory, please consider making a donation in Larry’s name to the American Cancer Society or West Bergen Mental Health.
