Obituary of Marilyn Kipp Von Lindern

Von Lindern, Marilyn, (nee Kipp) 85 of Oakland, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2016. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Marilyn was a ten year resident of Floral Park, NY before moving to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Brussels, Belgium with her husband and six children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Von Lindern, Jr. who died in 2014. Marilyn is remembered as a vibrant woman, a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend, who retained her intelligence, compassion and sense of humor until her death. Marilyn worked tirelessly for over 30 years as a real estate broker for Terrace Realty, Schlott, and Caldwell Banker. She enjoyed many activities centered around her family, OLPH Church, NAMI, NJ and travel in Europe. Marilyn is survived by her sons, Ned of Wyckoff, NJ; Tom (Stephanie) of Oakland, NJ; Steve (Nancy) of Budd Lake, NJ; Andrew (Darlene) of Wayne, NJ; daughters, Kathy (Steve) of Midlothian, VA and Mare of Chardon, Ohio; and grandchildren, Jessie (Chris) Buford and Alex Haut; Ethan and Molly Von Lindern; Amanda and Steve Von Lindern; Devon, Drew and Olivia Von Lindern, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Therese Kipp. A scholar and proponent of Catholic Schools, Marilyn was the recipient of a scholarship to Bishop McDonnell High School in Brooklyn, NY. She was the oldest of her siblings: Joseph (Kathy), John, and Annette (Jack). The family will receive friends at Oakland Memorial Funeral Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, New Jersey 07436 from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22nd at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 117 Franklin Ave, Oakland, NJ 07436. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to The Oakland Public Library (Children’s Division) or Adopt a Student Scholarship Fund, St. Mary’s School, 401 North St., Chardon, Ohio 44024.
