John, along with Rick Meier, were two of the first people I got to know when I moved to Franklin Lakes. I had the privilege of coaching John's Junior football team for over twenty years. When I started, I knew I knew football, but the more important lessons of learning how to coach, motivate, nurture and inspire children I attribute to Coach Booth and the rest of the "lifer" Franklin Lakes coaches. To echi Coach Meier's sentiment, it always inspired me to watch how John could both praise, reprimand, teach and inspire an athlete with just a few simple words and actions. I learned from John how to help children believe in themselves and make them understand that trying your best is good enough.
Besides football, John also guided me as my company's CPA for many years.
He will be both admired and missed by me and many. Rest in peace my friend and mentor.

Condolences to the family of Coach Booth. I still have many friends from his teams and everyone seems to have their own funny story regarding the local legend; we talk about the good old days like washed up athletes do, and it’s impossible to reminisce on our days at Pulis field without mentioning Coach Booth. He had a passion for the game and a knack for winning, but ultimately I remember him with a smile on his face as he shaped the lives of us boys.
I ended up playing D3 football, but sometimes wonder if I would have put up with the August heat as a 10 year old had the program been run by someone else. Rest In Peace, Coach, and thank you for your role in molding me as a man.

John was one of the first people I got to know when we moved to Franklin Lakes in 1986. He coached all four of my children, including my daughter. She was his first female football player... nose guard and wide receiver. She went on to play college soccer and is the Head Coach of girls soccer at Ramapo. Personally, I always attributed her toughness on the soccer pitch to her football experience with John. I trusted John with my children because he had had a big, generous heart and he loved the game. Mr. Booth could chew you out and encourage you at the same time. He played everyone and all his players felt they were valued, regardless of their size or skill level. He was Coach Booth. There could be no greater accolade.
He was my friend and I will miss him. There won't be a time when I am on the field coaching my juniors this season when I won't feel him next to me, trying to persuade me to keep it on the ground. God Bless you, and rest in peace.

Dear Pat and Family:
Laraine and I are extremely saddened to hear of the death of your wonderful family patriarch.
While working together with John for several years at Union Camp, and also as one of his “original accounting partners” back in Wyckoff, I admired him very much. At UCC, I was a young inexperienced accountant and John was my first boss. --He became a mentor and taught me a great deal about the profession, which helped me many times throughout my own career. John defined confidence in everything he did professionally and in doing so, both peers and clients alike were always very impressed with his extraordinary technical ability and problem-solving skills. —He had a quick wit and incredibly infectious sense of humor, which made such a positive impression on so many of us in his life!
Most importantly, everyone knew John as a proud “family man” and whenever he had an opportunity, he would go into a detailed update, down to each of his grandchildren.—As a football coach in Franklin Lakes over the years, his passion and dedication to young people most certainly had a positive influence on a generation.—
I always admired these qualities and count me in among the many who are grateful for having known John. --Personally, I will miss him very much.
Please know that the Booth family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Phil & Laraine Walpole
