Every time I drive by Messiah I think about Gil. I look at the richness of the deep red hues that protect the building and I am reminded of the many days of work and community we shared as a congregation throughout the hard work of painting, protecting, and renewing the wood walls. This project was just one of many Gil spearheaded and lead. Your Dad and Husband was TIRELESS in his love and care of the people, the place, and most especially the message of Christ's love for all people.
Gil lived his faith in generosity of spirit and work ... and many things involved in taking care of the needs of a faithful community. I have spent nearly 40 years with Gil .. first as a youth and later on being guided and supported in my adult faith journey. My heart broke the day I learned of his journey home, and truth be told, I'm still sad. He is one of the people who have impacted my faith and the call of Christ in my own life today.
I am grateful for his life and the gifts he shared with us, and I am honored to be a member of the faithful people in Christ with whom Gil shared his life. May the peace and light of Christ flow over, around, and through you, his treasured family, and all who loved this beloved Christ-Servant.

Dear Brian, Tina, and Mrs. Godwin,
Even though it's been many years since we've seen each other, I always have fond memories of the Godwin family. Mr Godwin was a great man and will be missed. Please know you're in my prayers as you grieve his loss. We know he's in a better place, and I hope you can take comfort in this. May the Lord and all your great memories get you through this difficult time.
Regards,
Dave Brummer
PS: I love the picture of Mr Godwin (and appreciate the Mets blanket in the background).

thx Dave!! i see you when i see your Dad! <3 his sense of humor, maybe some even rubbed off on Karl, who knows?!o} Thurs service, and tiny lunch were awesome.. Big answered prayers... can't thank you all enough for the prayers. Even got to share story of dad, and baseball.. how he is fiercely loyal.. and when Dodgers moved due to greed, he gave up on MLB. But, didn't stop him frm loving me,taking me 2 gms. Megan got his competitiveness, + the Mets blankie. & Now, Dad can see colors-Hallelu!!
