Obituary of Audrey Emily Nelson Clark (January 9, 1931-February 19, 2020) Audrey Emily Clark of Oakland, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. Audrey was born on January 9, 1931 to Helen Elizabeth Krebaum Nelson and Hilding Victor Nelson in Brooklyn, NY. Audrey was one of 5 children, and is predeceased in death by her beloved husband, William Franklin Clark; her parents, Helen and Hilding; as well as her siblings, Carl G. Nelson, Lorraine Nelson Schmidt, Carol Nelson England and Dolores Nelson Siffert. Audrey grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and went to work as a secretary in New York City where she met her husband, Bill, of 56 years. Audrey and Bill bought their home in Oakland in 1954 where they raised their 3 children. As her children were growing up she was active in the local PTAs, was a Girl Scout Leader, as well as a volunteer “Cherry Lady” at Valley Hospital of Ridgewood, NJ. She was also a member of the Valley Hospital Oakland Branch Auxiliary and volunteered in Kurth Cottage at Valley Hospital. Audrey was a member of Ponds Reformed Church. She worked for Oakland Drugs for 30 years, where she made many friends with the people of Oakland before retiring at the age of 80. Audrey loved to cook and bake, and she shared her wonderful food with many throughout the years. Audrey is survived by her children; Janet Clark Ricat of Oakland, NJ and her husband, Roger; her son William F. Clark and his wife, Susan of Mahwah, NJ and her daughter, Karen Clark Gregory and her husband, Christopher of Vernon, NJ. She also leaves behind her beloved and cherished grandchildren; Kristoffer Ricat and his wife, Michelle; Meredith Ricat and her husband, Rob; William Clark and his wife, Elisse; Matthew Clark, Julia Gregory; and her great-granddaughter, Carina Ricat as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Rest in Peace Audrey. You are loved. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Oakland Memorial Funeral Home followed by a service at noon. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Audrey E. Clark to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital will be appreciated.
