To all the Haslett family. My name is Bob Pappas. I met Vic when I was 12, I use to get gas For my minibike at the station in Harrington park. 25c would fill it up 2 times, and piss off Vic, he would have to stop what he was doing for the big sale of 13 cents. Well one day I asked him if he wanted someone to sweep the floor or whatever. He hired me at the ripe age of 13. Little did I know, it would give me direction for the rest of my life.. I worked for him 5 years. The first job he gave me was a water pump on a Lincoln continental, with suicide doors and the hood that opened forward. It took me 2 days to complete the job. With no help from him. Vic taught me what I needed to get through life. To this day I never met a man to have more impression on me. I continued my career as a mechanic, working for Caterpillar, John Deere, trucks, boats and everything in between. I still have great memories of the shop. Every Saturday we would have a BBQ for lunch, me cooking and Vic, father John,huggy Bear and Doc would sit in the back. Vic was the smartest, kindest man I have known.
