Obituary of Rose Papaccioli

Rose Mary Papaccioli, 96, of Oakland, NJ, passed away at home, peacefully in her sleep, on January 21, 2019.
A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Oakland on Friday, January 25, at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Hackensack Cemetery in Hackensack, NJ. Visitation will be held at Oakland Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 24, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00.
Rose was born in Long Island City, NY, to Louis Covello and Rosa Olivetto on November 29, 1922. She attended Bryant High School in Long Island City and graduated in 1940. During WWII Rose was employed by the Morganite Carbon Brush Co. as a shipping clerk.
Taking time off to raise a family Rose returned to the workforce in the late 50’s to help part time in the family business, Abbott Candy Company. By then the family had relocated to Fort Lee NJ.
In the early 60’s, Rose began full time employment at Prentice Hall, Englewood Cliffs, NJ. She retired as Editor after 26 years of service.
Rose enjoyed travelling with her husband Vincent, to Florida where they had purchased a condo. After his passing, Rose moved to Oakland to be close to her son, Louis, and his family. Rose became involved in Parents without Partners and the Oakland Seniors Club where she made many close friends including one fine gentleman friend, Henry, with whom she was able to continue travelling to Florida.
Rose loved to dance and often went with the seniors to Atlantic City. She loved to assist in running the bingo at the Seniors club and she attended weekly card playing with her friends. She will be missed by many.
Rose is survived by her sons George and his wife Marianne of Oradell, and Louis and his wife Colleen of Oakland; five grandchildren, Bryan (wife Chela), Andrew (wife Danielle), Erika (fiancé Michael), Marissa Mezzancello (husband Matt), and Daniel (wife Alice); and four great-grandsons Shane, Carson, Travis and Max. She is preceded in death by her husband Vincent.
