Nancy W. Westphal (nee Pityo), 80 of Oakland, NJ entered into eternal peace on January 16, 2016 in Wayne, NJ after a prolonged illness. The only child of Alexander and Hermina Pityo, Nancy was born July 12, 1935, in Passaic, NJ. She was raised with love surrounded by extended family on Birchwood Drive in East Paterson. A 1952 graduate of Lodi HS, Nancy married the boy across the street, Fred Westphal, in 1957. They settled in Oakland in 1959 where they raised their 3 children. Before she was married, Nancy worked at Weston Biscuit in Passaic. In 1972, she reentered the work force; starting at The Suburban News. In 1976, Nancy began working for National Veterinary Labs, in Franklin Lakes. It was there Nancy met the ladies who were like a second family to her. They enjoyed spending many hours together both in and out of work. She retired in 2000. Nancy was a devoted, caring and fun-loving mother, wife and friend. She enjoyed socializing and shared her love of music and gardening with her children and taught them to be independent adults. Nancy doted on her four grandchildren and loved to spend every spare moment with them. Nancy was predeceased by her devoted husband, Fred, just 40 days prior on December 7, 2015. She will be dearly missed by her loving children: Robert Westphal of Oldsmar, FL; Kathleen Errico of Mahwah, NJ; and Patricia Mazzilli and her husband Peter of Oakland, NJ; her beloved grandchildren: Jennifer Errico, and Fredrick, Anthony and Alexandra Mazzilli and her beloved cousins: Jeanette Bock, June Applegate and Lorilei Kaminski, and Brother-in-law Thomas Westphal. Nancy and her beautiful singing voice will be missed by the staff at Arden Courts in Wayne. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care she received from all her caregivers during the last 4 years, especially: Yocanda, Collis, Frances, Dawn, Fredrick and Santa. Visitation will be Sunday January 24, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Oakland Memorial Home 330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland, NJ. Services will be 10 AM Monday at Maryrest Cemetery Mahwah, NJ.
