Sheridan "Spike" HARROD , 92, of Oakland, NJ. passed away at home on March 27, 2014. Sheridan was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 3, 1921 and spent most of his childhood in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a teenager he moved to NYC to be near his brothers who were musicians. Sheridan served in the Navy during WWII as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class. For several years he worked for American Airlines as an Aircraft Instrument Specialist at LaGuardia Field. In 1948 he married his beloved wife Ruth who also worked for American Airlines. In 1950 they moved to Oakland and Sheridan started his new job as an Engineer at Singer-Kearfott, where he worked for 40 years. Airplanes, flying and building his own plane where a big part of his life. In later years, his love of family, friends and history turned him to researching and compiling a detailed history of the Harrod family. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Harrod who predeceased him in 2010, Sheridan is survived by daughter Sherrill Harrod of Ringwood, son Greg Harrod and his wife Judi of Fredericksburg, VA. Arrangements entrusted to Oakland Memorial Home Oakland, NJ.
